THE JAMAICA Netball Association's consolation's knockout round of 16 takes centre stage at the Leila Robinson Courts today with some big match-ups in store.
The smaller teams have effectively been eliminated and the battle of the big guns begin.
Tivoli B, Jetsetters B and Omega B have done remarkably well in coming this far but they still have an uphill battle if they hope to make it to the quarter-finals of the competition.
Tivoli B go up against Eden Strikers A and must be heartened at the close scoreline that prevailed when Police B held them to a paltry 17 points. Eden Strikers must be thinking they cannot have a repeat of that performance or they might not be so lucky this time around.
Jetsetters B are on the warpath after delivering a crushing 25-12 blow on Leiba Gardens and must want to continue this trend when they go up against Speg A who are having the most success they have ever enjoyed. They just missed out on a quarter-final place in the Open League losing in a play-off. This could mean that Jetsetters have come up on what could be termed a roadblock. Both games begin at 5:50 p.m.
Omega B, like their A team counterparts, are looking forward to taking home at least one title, however, that might not be possible bearing in mind their opposition today. The Knockout hopefuls go up against Blades United A who are hoping to overturn the applecart and have a non-traditional team in the quarter-finals of the Knockout. Their game begins at 6:35 p.m.
In the day's other games, at 5:50 pm., Hampshire A go up against D.P. Raiders, and Ebony A face Red Challenge A.
At 6:35 pm., Alpha A battle De la Vega A, JDF A go up against Arnett Gardens and Magics lock horns with Police A.
