Jamaica Gleaner Letters
published: Friday | January 23, 2004

'Sting' and 'Genesis' were worlds apart
THE EDITOR, Sir: JAMWORLD IS potentially one of the finest entertainment centres in Jamaica. Two events, of a somewhat similar nature, were staged at Jamworld a week apart.

Inefficient legal system
THE EDITOR, Sir: IT WOULD appear that many attorneys-at-law have a vested interest in an inefficient legal system and should the system become reasonably efficient, then many of them would be without a job.

Teachers role vs the parents
THE EDITOR, Sir: I AM very concerned about the role we as parents want our teachers to play in our children's development for the future.

The SDA and the silent church
THE EDITOR, Sir: IN REFERENCE to a letter of past weeks in The Gleaner, headlined 'The Silent Church', a Seventh-Day Adventist minister took the issue both on the air and by letter to the Editor.

Wanted: responsible parents!
THE EDITOR, Sir: THIS IS in response to the recent demand of some parents for teachers to do more. In today's Jamaica, teachers also require parents to do more.

Good article
THE EDITOR, Sir: I AM not a fan of Melville Cooke, his articles are usually filled with vitriol and not a little racism but give credit where credit is due, his 'How hath the dons fallen', was superbly entertaining.

'Combolo' is worth seeing
THE EDITOR, Sir: MY OVERSEAS guests thoroughly enjoyed the National Pantomime 'Combolo' at the Little Theatre.

A devoted MP
THE EDITOR, Sir: REFERENCE IS made to a letter published in your newspaper of Wednesday, January 21, 2004, written by one H.A.P. Prendergast under the headline: 'East Rural St. Andrew MP, where are you?'...

Basil Palmer
THE EDITOR, Sir: I WOULD like to use this medium to contact my nephew Basil Palmer of Hibernia district, Devon P.O., Manchester. He is the son of Lowell Palmer and Amy White of Race Course.

Your support is appreciated
THE EDITOR, Sir: KINDLY PERMIT space to allow me to express my sincere thanks to the management and staff of the United Plastic Company Limited and Scotia Bank...
