DAAHLINGS, WAIT for this as the buzz is that another beauty queen the absolutely and drop-dead-gorgeous Dr. Saphire Longmore is about to take to the airwaves with another issues-oriented television talk show!
And speaking of hot and happening things, Anabella Seaga and Dr. Michael Zia Mian will tie the knot on March 20 in Kingston for close family and friends only. Over in Trinidad and Tobago on the same date, Peter Bovell will tie the knot with Donnia Gomez which will see a number of Kingston high society members jetting into the twin island republic.
Dears, Gee Jam studio in Port Antonio is the current rave of the international music recording industry. Luvs, owned and managed by Jon Baker, the studio is the choice of most Indie Labels and a number of stars. Little wonder here, however, as with names such as in India Arie, Wyclef Jean; Dru Hill; Zowie and Sisqo being some of music's hottest acts to record at the state-of-the-art facility, y'all know that we are talking more than being merely hot here as such star-power means red-hot!
Anyways, my dears, British record industry bigwig Mark Jones and his fabulous fashion model of a wife, the red-hot Fiona Jones, were just two of the international celebs who recently jetted in to Port Antonio to celebrate the birthday of Graham Brown-Martin, who celebrated his birthday on January 10th. Guests jammed at the '70s glam theme party that was an all-nighter and then some.
And with Brown-Martin being appointed the development officer of Gee Jam Studios television, film, video and DVD production studio, ya'll know Port Antonio can only get hotter!
2004 PARTY SEASON
Doves, the 2004 party season is under way and in full flight! And why not? After all, living well is the best revenge!
And so it is, me pumpkins, it is the age of the Capricorn and so naturally, there are parties aplenty. Among the many celebs and personalities celebrating this the age of fabdom was restaurateur/nightclub owner, and fashion iconoclast Carlos MaxBrown. Now to mark his birthday, the noted businessman, whose name is a household word in Cuba and a number of other Latin American countries, decided on throwing a little shindig at his Belmont Road Carlos Cafe establishment, to celebrate with family friends, associates and patrons.
Pumpkins, it was Carlos MaxBrown and his Carlos Cafe who first made popular the now common pastime of hiring Cuban talent to augment Kingston's night-ime entertainment. He travelled to Havana and/or Santiago de Cuba to hire a bevy of fabulously attractive Cuban cabaret dancers for his Latin Nights at Carlos Cafe.
The move was a near stroke of genius. Kingston, beset with high crime statistics and a diminishing capacity for sustaining high quality night-time entertainment had become pretty much a shadow of its former glamorous self. There was not much for the party and/or night people to enjoy.
To be sure, there were always a number of high-end cafes at any given time. Sadly, however, when it came to diversity and/or creativity, Kingston, the buzz of the Caribbean, had pretty little to offer in terms of varied adult entertainment. That, however, became a thing of the past, with the advent of Carlos Cafe.
And so it was, that last Saturday the coveted invite was the one summoning a number of critically-hand-picked members of fab-society. The chic and the beautiful, to celebrate with the man who not only changed the night-time face of Kingston, but also breathed new life into the old city, on the occasion of his birthday. Dovecakes, it was a beaut!
My dears, the invitation promised a 'Midnite Madness Birthday Bash'. Now, when one thinks of a bash/bashment, one is inclined to think of the polloi in huge numbers in an area distinguished by the aroma of jerk and festooned by the trash of the peddlers who usually flock to bashments. Well, not so at Carlos Cafe last Saturday night, as indeed, it was the chic and fabulous who were out, the fare decidedly cosmopolitan and richly so. As for the entertainment? This was another fabulous number as in the early hours of the affair, Jason Rafael and his ensemble delivered a solid performance.
Now, y'all have heard that no good deed goes unpunished. Well, not all times as indeed, the day was not without its drama. Indeed, Carlos MaxBrown had journeyed to Cuba in mid-week to recruit a new cabaret act for the season, with the expressed intention of having them debut at his birthday celebrations.
Well, horror of horrors, MaxBrown did not return last Friday as slated. This caused quite a flurry as indeed, it would have been some party, if the guest of honour and host, were to somehow have missed it.
Minutes to go before his scheduled party-time Carlos MaxBrown and his dancing troupe arrived. When the costumed clad dancing girls hit the stage closer to midnight, however, it was a triumphant debut of three beautiful choco-au-lait flavoured girls and a male lead, and for my word, did they make the night happen.Doves, it literally raised the bar from a laidback cocktail flavoured crowd, to a whooping it up tequila shots, and then some do.
FABULOUSLY HOT
Children, we are talking fabulously hot here as every-which-way one looked there were head-turning beautiful women and a number of buffed beefcake types all a-strutting their thang! And with libations flowing and people getting into the swing of it all, my dears, it was way into Sunday, before it all played out.
Among those out celebrating were mom Carlene MaxBrown, his sister, the absolutely stunning Sophia MaxBrown; Honorary Consul of Ecuador, the very charming Celia Baretto de Hunter; Lance Gibbs; Laurie Broderick and his companion, the positively beautiful Mitsy Pratt; businessman Richard Lake; Brian Chung of Asylum and the Quad nightclubs; Coke's Carl O'Brien; C&W's Ian Neita; Ishmael and Amelita Gafoor; Tanya HoShue; Brent Ciurlino and fiancee, the fabulous Dr. Kim Brown; Dr. Napoleon Ochoa; Cedric and Kamala McDonald and their beautiful daughter Chantal and her fiance Omar; Bobby Porter; the hot Louise Finnegan; jockey Charley Hussey; Danny Champagnie: the lovely Celeste Jarbeau; Andrew McIntyre; Erroline Anderson; Wilfred Bachelor; the lovely Janet Farrow; Alan Melbourne; the beautiful Laura Butler; the roving Alistair MacBeath; the charming Karlene Pinnock, who partied like there would be no Sunday; Florida-based publisher Paul Hollywood; the lovely Michelle Henry in from Miami; Julie Charlton and Robin Cordoza, both in from Toronto, Dr. Ray Gafoor, and many others.
