Stone age washroom facilities.
published: Wednesday | January 28, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir;

I RECENTLY visited May Pen and found the town a booming place. There is one immediate concern, however. I "graduated" from May Pen Primary School in 1967 at that time both girls and boys washrooms worked; they were the pull-chain type. In 1992 only the girls' washroom was in flushing condition, the boy's was out of order with faeces lying in and around due to a full pit. Flies were also around.

In Dec. 2003 another inspection was made and the girls' washroom was now out of commission replaced with a pit which was full of you know what.

May Pen Primary accommodates just under 3,000 students with very inadequate washroom facilities. I wonder if the staff have washrooms.

I am, etc.,
