Frome thrash Merlene Ottey by 131 runs

MARLON VIDAL scored a half century while Peyton Thompson and Petrina Turner shared seven wickets for Frome as they beat Merlene Ottey by 131 runs in Wilco Sports/Headley Cup schoolboy cricket action yesterday.

Batting first, Frome scored 223 with Vidal, 54, and Wade Watson, 41, leading the way against a strong performance from Blake John (6-47).

In their reply, Merlene Ottey struggled to 92 against Thompson (4-22) and Turner (3-9).

In another match, Maggotty defeated Newell by eight wickets at St. Elizabeth Technical High School.

Newell first made 154 with Kamal Dennis top scoring with 50. At their turn at bat, Maggotty, led by Odean Dixon, 80 not out, Zanu Williams, 37, and Krishana McDonald, 18, achieved their target (157 for two) easily.

Meanwhile, action in the Grace Shield Premier League continues today with Kingston College (KC) against St. Catherine at Little KC and Wolmer's face St. Andrew Technical (STATHS) at Heroes Circle.

St. George's College meet St. Jago at Emmet Park and Tivoli take on Trench Town at Tivoli in tomorrow's action.
