Sandals Ocho Rios names 'Employee of the Year'

RAYMOND CAMPBELL from Watersports Department at Sandals Ocho Rios emerged team Member of the Year 2003 at a glittering ceremony held at Jamaica Grande Ballroom recently.

Campbell won a week for a family of four at Beaches Turks and Caicos, airfare compliments of Air Jamaica Express and a cash award of $15,000.

General manager of Sandals Ocho Rios, Michael Darby, who is also chairman of the St. Ann/Runaway Bay chapter of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourists Association (JHTA), lauded team members for the massive contribution they have made to Jamaica's tourism.

Mr. Darby said that the future of the industry was in good hands.

In announcing the awards, Darby lauded Campbell's dedication to the task and going above and beyond the call of duty.

Other major winners were: Julian James, runner-up Team Member of the Year; Department of the Year ­ Sanitation; Managers of the Year ­ Ian Spencer and Dalton Francis; Most Improved ­ Gary Robinson; Most Reliable ­ Owen Loney; Best Team Player ­ Julian James; Most Environmentally-Friendly ­ Sidney Clarke; Loss Prevention Officer ­ Ray Gordon; Loss Prevention Supervisor ­ Allister Gardener; Supervisor of the Year ­ Philbert Shurriah.

Special guest and co-emcee of the occasion was former Miss Jamaica Universe Dr. Sapphire Longmore who shared duties with public relations manager Ian Spencer.
