Boys' Town tame Bull Bay
published: Wednesday | February 11, 2004

BOYS' TOWN tamed Bull Bay in KSAFA/JNBS Super League action yesterday, defeating them 3-1 at Boys' Town and moved up to second position on 29 points behind Santos (31).

Maverley-Hughenden also have 29 points after their 1-1 draw with Barbican but are third with an inferior goal difference.

In the day's other game, Rockfort and Real Mona drew 2-2.

Boys' Town's Michael Campbell's double strike in the 34th and 66th minutes put his team back on top after former national player Milton Griffiths had given Bull Bay the lead in the 15th minute.

Campbell's pace and quickness provided many problems for Bull Bay's backline and this was shown by his first goal where he made a brilliant run from midfield, dancing through Bull Bay defenders to draw the score even.

TESTED IMMEDIATELY

Nine minutes into the second half Bull Bay changed goalkeepers and Ravel Wilson was tested immediately as he assumed his custodial duties.

Wilson did well to deflect the first few shots that were fired at him but a well-placed cross by Rollin Francis from the right side beat Wilson and found the head of Campbell.

Substitute Marcus Parkes, on his first touch, scored the third goal for Boys' Town in the 87th minute.

"Players have to understand that when we make changes it is to come in and make a difference," said Boys' Town coach Andrew Pryce. "That is exactly what happened today. People came in and energised the team and made a difference.

"We showed a lot of character in this game. We were one goal down early in the first half and we came back to win this game. We just have to get in the habit of scoring more goals," he said.

Bull Bay's coach, Barrington Gaynor, acknowledged his opponent's fight and admitted that his team was outdone.

"I think Boys' Town were the better team of the day because they went down 1-0 and they stuck to their task and they came up with a favourable result," Gaynor said.
