Foreign Affairs Minister, K.D. Knight, left, congratulates Thalia Lyn, honorary Consul-General of Thailand, following the proclamation ceremony recently.

IT IS now official. Social empress and pioneering business-maven, the indomitable Thalia Lyn, is now the honorary Consul-General for the kingdom of Thailand.

This following the investiture ceremony last Friday evening hosted by hubby Captain Michael Lyn at their lovely Old Stony Hill, St. Andrew, residence.

Ambassador Krairiksh Sakthip of the Thai Embassy in Washington D.C., and First Secretary Nopakun Natapanu, both jetted in from D.C., to officiate at the ceremony to present the Consul-General with her instrument of office.

Foreign Affairs Minister K. D. Knight and a number of representatives from the Foreign Affairs Ministry were in attendance.

Indeed, it was a night to remember, accented as it was with pomp, circumstance and ceremony, layered in flawless style and punctuated by faultless society. It was as fabulous as could be, and the style-perfect Thalia Lyn, being her eminent self, made it a simply marvellous occasion.

Among the many dignitaries and notables in attendance, included: American Ambassador Sue Cobb; Head of the EU delegation Ambassador Gerd Jarchow; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation Edward Malayan; Chinese Ambassador Zhenyu Zhao and Madam Zhao Zhenyu; British High Commissioner Peter Mathers, wife Elisabeth Mathers and their daughter Phillipa Mathers; Canadian High Commissioner Claudio Valle and Louise Valle; Spanish Ambassador Rafael Jover and Lola Jover; Deputy British High Commissioner Phil Sinkinson; Chargé d'affaires of the German Embassy Werner Fleck; wife of the French Ambassador Luisa Berniard; Ambassador Derrick and Thyra Heaven; Ambassador Douglas Saunders; Ambassador Madge and Tunty Barrett; Director of Protocol in the Foreign Affairs Ministry Eleanor Felix; Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Hon. Consul of Turkey Arnold Foote and Mrs. Trish Foote; Hon. Consul of Bangladesh Desmond Blades and Mrs. Peggy Blades; Hon. Consul of the Republic of Iceland Robert MacMillan; Hon. Consul of Liberia Hugh Levy; and Hon. Consul of Lithuania Lois Sherwood.

Also out were: Vincent and Gloria Chen; Joe Matalon and Bernadette McKinley-Morin; Lascelles Chin and wife Dr. Eileen Chin; Mrs. P. J. Stewart; Donovan and Andrea Lewis; Douglas and Michelle Orane; Ian and Celia Levy; Wayne Chen; Hayden and Joyce Singh; George Fatta; Drs.
