Jamaica Gleaner Letters
published: Monday | February 16, 2004

When tragedy puts focus on road usage
THE EDITOR, Sir: IT HAS taken the death of a young Jamaican to bring into sharp focus our culture of indiscipline where road usage is concerned. The responsibility for safety on the road rests on motorists and pedestrians alike.

Get serious, Paleface
THE EDITOR, Sir: I WRITE in response to an article written by Paleface entitled 'Agony and Ecstasy', in the A section of The Gleaner on Friday, February 13.

A societal challenge
THE EDITOR, Sir: RECENTLY, WHILE in a pharmacy I was approached by a man who was seeking help to pay for medication for his mental condition. I had no reason to doubt that this was a genuine case.

Are we truly free?
THE EDITOR, Sir: THE ISLAND of Jamaica was founded on the blood, sweat and tears of our forefathers who, whether willingly or unwillingly, toiled with great measure to make us the current inhabitors of this country free; but are we truly free?...

Sad about downtown
THE EDITOR, Sir: I FEEL really sad every time I see the news of downtown Kingston, because I went to school there and though today I am living comfortably, I sometimes remember little things about downtown that still make me laugh.

Uninvested human capital
THE EDITOR, Sir: DRIVING THROUGH the Corporate Area recently, it struck me that on every corner of our inner-city areas were standing uninvested human capital. Just wasting.

'Get a life'
THE EDITOR, Sir: In a letter captioned 'Unfor-tunate ramblings' (February 13, 2004.) Barbara Gloudon told Dawn Ritch to 'get a life'. Yes, Miss Ritch, you should follow the sound advice of Mrs. Gloudon and 'get a life'.

Site for the World Cup of Cricket
THE EDITOR, Sir: This is an open letter to the Prime Minister...

Urging caution on Property Rights
THE EDITOR, Sir: I AM writing this letter because I fear God. I am scared that if I see this error and say nothing about it, in the end God may chide me for sitting down and saying nothing.
