Wrong choices
published: Tuesday | February 17, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I HOPE that Jamaican women will realise how much worth they have and that they deserve love like everyone else. On Valentine's Day I hope Jamaican women in abusive relationships woke up to the fact that they may have spent their best years in devotion to men who do not prove worthy of their love.

As an attorney-at-Law who went through many divorce proceedings in court I have witnessed firsthand the end product of wrong choices made by women who engage in transactional relationships in which they are too dependent. The women are often devastated and their confidence and self esteem are destroyed. This includes well educated women and professionals who see a man as the defining feature of their lives.

I am, etc.,
