RGD fails to deliver
published: Thursday | February 19, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I HAVE been trying to get a birth certificate for my father since October 2003. My father, Elijah Thompson, is 74 years old and does not have information regarding his birth certificate. I paid for a seven-day search since last year, and the Registrar General's Department cannot give me any serious argument about the birth certificate. I filed for my father to migrate to the US, it's almost time for him to get through and the registrar is not responding.

If they are not doing the search then give me back my money. If it is an impossible situation let me know. If the Registrar General's Department continues to give me the run-a-round then I will have to go to the Jamaican Embassy and file a complaint. If I am not satisfied I will file a lawsuit for not rendering service as promised.

I am, etc.,

LETAMNIN THOMPSON
