Most wanted behind bars
published: Saturday | February 21, 2004

By Glenroy Sinclair, Staff Reporter

KEMAR JARRETT, alias 'Natty Patch', who occupies third position behind Joel Andem and Donovan 'Bulbie' Bennett on the police's 'Most Wanted' list, is now locked behind bars. Reports are that he was nabbed on Wednesday immediately after he landed at the Norman Manley International Airport, Kingston.

Reports reaching The Gleaner are that the 22-year-old fugitive, whom the police described as armed and dangerous, arrived in the island, unaccompanied.

He was deported from the United Kingdom on drug-related charges.

Travelling under the name of Craig Orlando Kelly, of a Fourth Avenue address in Vineyard Town, Kingston, Jarrett was whisked away by special branch detectives shortly after he landed.

MURDER CHARGE

He has since been charged with three counts of murder committed on June 6, 2001 on Bray Street, July 31, 2001 in McIntyre Villa and December 16 on Bryden Street, east Kingston.

The police said he has been also charged with two counts of shooting and three counts of possession of illegal firearms.

Jarrett had managed to leave Jamaica undetected, despite the circulation of photos of himself and other fugitives at points across the island. The original warrant for his arrest said he was wanted in connection with several counts of murder, shooting and rape.

He is the second fugitive on the police's 'Most Wanted' list to be captured since last year.

In December, Andrew Meade who was fourth on the list, was picked up in Central Village, St. Catherine. He was wanted in connection with a double murder committed on January 15, 2001.

Still on the run are Andem; Donovan Bennett; Randolph Wedderburn; Mark Bromley; Alexander Hutton; Kemar Lewis; Cecil Adlam; and Glenford Spencer.
