'Our children are horrendous'
published: Sunday | February 22, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

SINCE THE year 2000 the attitude of most children has become horrendous. This can be seen both in the media and in person.

If we believe that 'Homes' are totally responsible for the children's action, then if we as parents do not make a drastic move to curb the situation, then imagine what the outcome will be in another four years time.

We the older heads will remember the emphasis that was placed on spiritual life but today's emphasis is more on the pleasures of life, as can be seen in the protruding flesh in the tight-fitting outfits that we the parents provide for our children.

SETTING THE PACE

I know that if we as parents were setting the pace as expected the majority of our children would not be so involved in the type of crime that they are now involved in, irrespective of the age of the parents.

Let us make that resolution to bring back childhood to our children as we are the ones to suffer the outcome. We need to work in co-ordination with the schools especially the guidance counsellors, and also with the churches.

Children must be children.

I am, etc.,

DEAN ARCHER
