THE EDITOR, Sir:
FATHER RICHARD Ho Lung had an article in The Gleaner recently which I endorse one million times over, regarding noise made by careless and vulgar people with no feelings for the law or for anybody else whatsoever. Sleepless nights are the norm now, and so is the big shrug of we don't care.
At the much advertised and touted Devon House, Sunday evening and night is the big offender; cars with their deafening blasters screaming in our ears as we try to rest or study, not to mention the scheduled entertainment competing with the blasters from the cars. (Hospital right across the road.) Where is the control? Where is the order and obedience and consideration all gone?
People in a society will do anything that they can because they can, without being stopped, and there is then no limit to what they will do.
As for the 'music' in the plazas on Constant Spring Road we cannot enjoy shopping again for as soon as we park and come out we are assaulted by the sounds, again competing with each other for loudness and obscenity.
We are surrounded by garbage in every form, and guess what? There is no-one to stop it because nobody really cares any more. Not the people who might be able to do something, apart from complain and write, like poor me.
I am, etc.,
