THE EDITOR, Sir:
JAMAICA IS in a bad way, a very bad way, but today, I am going to say thanks for the few positive things that I can catch a hold of.
First of all I want to say thanks to the Police Force human beings who have not abandoned all hope and left this country like those at present in Haiti; To a Mayor like Desmond McKenzie brave, strong and fair. Obviously a patriot and a leader. I hope you will one day play your hand at leading the country. You would do well, sir.
Commendations to the JUTC drivers whose skills must be exceptional. One must understand that it cannot be easy to take those huge machines on our busy, narrow, bumpy, hectic roads, plagued as we are with so many emotional problems. It takes a gifted driver to actually accomplish this everyday without an accident.
And to a Mr. Kevin Davis, driver of JUTC 316 Premium Luxury Service. There is a physically challenged lady who takes this bus and I am told that he would assist her to her seat, stop at her gate and jump ahead of her to open her gate and assist her inside.
In a just country, who seek to establish heroes and heroines and reward noble conduct, these groups or persons should be noted and rewarded; not so in our country. Little wonder there are so many sociopaths among us.
I am, etc.,
