For your generosity

THE EDITOR, Sir:
I TAKE this opportunity to thank you all for the great work you are doing, bringing us up to date on what is happening in and around and also challenging us.
On January 25, 2004, an article by Marlene McPherson was published in the Outlook, Sunday magazine featuring Sandra 'Celia' Foxton of Chovey House Scheme, Port Morant, St. Thomas. A passage reads: "Although physically challenged, Sandra Foxton is not a victim of her disability." As a result of that article, I got a call from Hope Elliott of the New Kingston Kiwanis Club. They were very impressed by her determination to make a living from her skills as a dressmaker. They promised to pay for a new caliper for her so that she can move around better without the fear of falling.
We have since arranged for Celia to go to the Mona Rehab Centre where she was examined and measured. She will be getting a new caliper soon.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Marlene McPherson, of The Gleaner, for bringing to our attention the situation of Sister Celia, Hope Elliott and the New Kingston Kiwanis Club for their generosity, Icolyn Stanley who arranged for the ambulance from Princess Margaret Hospital, and Miss Velmina Richards a church sister who accompanied Celia to the Centre. Thank you all and may God bless you and give success to the work of your hands.
I am, etc.,
