World Cup debate

THE EDITOR, Sir:
I must say that I am happy to see that someone has the courage to write about the World Cup situation in Jamaica. I agree with your columnist Dennie Quill 100 per cent. The Prime Minister should address and make the decision in awarding the venue to Greenfield. Economically it is more beneficial to Jamaica for the stadium to be built on the North Coast. It will generate more tourist dollars, more facilities with hotel, beaches, night life, less congestion with traffic and moreover it will be run by the Government of Jamaica.
The Government cannot and should not pour all that taxpayers' money into a private club that excludes women from its membership.
The future of cricket in Jamaica is at a high, we need more first class facilities throughout the island to show the world what a great and beautiful place Jamaica is. It is time everyone in Jamaica jump around and start getting excited about the World Cup. This will jump-start the Jamaican economy.
Mr Prime Minister as a fellow Kingston man do the right thing for Jamaica and award the venue to Greenfield.
I am, etc.,
