Deport the Haitians
published: Thursday | February 26, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

WHY IS a poor country like Jamaica receiving Haitian refugees into the country and a rich country like the United States of America is deporting and returning boats carrying Haitian refugees? It seems to me that black poor countries never learn.

This is why the poor remain poor and the rich get richer.

The Haitian refugees will only bring burdens on Jamaica, such as AIDS, voodoo, illiteracy and their comfort level of bad hygiene. The Jamaican Government should do as the United States and deport and return every single Haitian refugee.

I am, etc.,
