'The Doctor' is in the house!
published: Monday | March 1, 2004

THE DOCTOR, Beenie Man, was fully recovered and seemed in surgery mode at Spectrum on Saturday night.

He dissected the Students' Union while sharing the stage with Baby Cham, and brought passionate flag-waving, ecstatic screaming, and a wave of shouting inside the venue.

Beenie Man and Baby Cham unleashed hit tunes one after the other for their entire set which ended at 4:30 a.m. when the police came to end the show. Judging by his energy and the power of his voice, Beenie Man seems fully ready for show business again. Other acts were warmly welcomed by the Spectrum crowd as well. Pickney, Queen Paula, Polka Dot, Laser Matrix, Assassin, Bling Dawg, Route 76, Tony Matterhorn and Lenny in the selector department, and the Fifth Element Crew all stood out in their own way.

LABEL

Even as their record label co-staged the event, Richie Spice and Chuck Fender represented their label well. Apart from Beenie Man and Baby Cham's performance, their sets got the most passionate responses. Richie Spice effortlessly threw the crowd into a frenzy with his timely lyrics, while Chuck Fender used his hit lyrics to do the same. Their third gunner Anthony Cruz acted as MC so he did not perform.

The numbers were not as many as in previous years, but the energy of the crowd present on Saturday night made up for it in terms of hype.
