Worked up about extortion

THE EDITOR, Sir:

WEBSTERS NEW World Dictionary, 2nd Concise Edition: 'Extort' ­ to get (money etc.) by violence, threats, misuse of authority etc.

I cannot understand why everyone gets so excited about recent events in the Spanish Town bus park. For years it has been taking place all over Jamaica and we have willingly acquiesced.

But similar acts take on different meanings in Jamaica, depending on who commits the act and where. Extortion is the same in Gordon House or the bus park. I will not pay.
