NEGRIL'S MERRILS Beach Resort has won the prestigious Thomas Cook Tour Operator Primo Award of Excellence for 2003.
Thomas Cook/AG Neckermann is among Europe's leading tour operators. The Award was presented based on Merril's beach Resorts' guest questionnaires.
In presenting the trophy to Michael Grandison, Merrils' managing director, Mariane Kopanski, regional director of the sponsors, lauded Merrils' for their professional management style, amiable staff, friendliness and efficiency.
He also named the resorts' elegant vacation allure and charm as among the best in the business of over 100 world-wide resort properties the company handles.
In a Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) press release Thursday, Paul Pennicook, Director of Tourism, congratulated Merrils on their accomplishment.
"The award underscored the standards achieved and maintained by Merrils Beach Resort over the years and that the property was an outstanding example of a vacation experience provided at Jamaica's small hotels.
Pennicook lauded the resort's ability to maintain a strong support from Europe particularly from Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands and Italy.
"This award offers encouragement and inspiration to all of us within the industry as we pool our energies to ensure that Jamaica remains the premier Caribbean brand in the marketplace," he added.
The Merrils Beach Resorts group consists of three properties located on Negril's famed seven-mile beach strip, offering water sports facilities, islandwide tours and international cuisine.
