Panton to resign as JLP Senator

DR. DAVID Panton, seen by many as one of the Jamaica Labour Party's (JLP) youngest and brightest stars, will be relinquishing his position as an Opposition Senator to pursue career interests abroad.
A release from Opposition Leader Edward Seaga yesterday said Dr. Panton "has advised me that he is relocating to Atlanta, United States, in order to take up an attractive offer in a financial company."
Mr. Seaga added that while Dr. Panton also indicated that he would be giving up his Senate seat, the resignation could not be made official until it was submitted in writing to Governor-General Sir Howard Cooke.
