Landline competition needed
published: Wednesday | March 3, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

IN CONNECTION with the headline 'AT&T comes to Jamaica' in The Gleaner of February 26, in my opinion what we actually need is some competition for landline service.

Because Cable & Wireless has the monopoly, we have no choice but to pay any rate increase they demand from us. For this reason, I personally would not buy a cellular phone from them because if it weren't for the fact that they now have competition they would not have even considered dropping their cellular rates.

I am, etc.,

DONNA MURRAY
