By Teino Evans, Staff Reporter

IN THE second fatal attack on prominent entertainment personalities within two weeks, Phillip Linton, owner of Arrow's Recording Studio was shot and killed, yesterday morning.

He was killed just outside a door to his studio at 57c Windward Road in Kingston.

The murder comes on the heels of the recent shooting death of Paul Tyrell of Shocking Vibes, who was Beenie Man's road manager.

FEAR LURKS

Some dancehall producers, may now have reason to be concerned for their safety in light of the recent spate of attacks on the entertainment industry.

Donovan Germain of Penthouse Productions says he is at a loss for words, as this killing has left many of his colleagues feeling very discouraged. "It mek yuh just want to pack up and leave. You don't know what on earth yuh getting into (as a producer)... it's just scary," he said.

According to Germain, when he heard the news of Linton's death, he was at the gym. "When mi hear di news, mi drive guh right back a mi yard," he said.

Phillip Linton is one of the sound system pioneers, who started out as a selector before building a name and business for himself. Linton was described by persons in the community as a down-to-earth person who made endless contributions to the area.

"A ya suh him born and grow (Windward Road Area)... Him normally kick ball wid wi and him did sponsor di community football team," said a man from the community who knew Linton.

His Arrows studio was established in 1990 and has since emerged as one of Jamaica's finest, providing 24-Track analog recording, mixing, compact disc mastering, vinyl mastering and dub plate cutting.

Arrows Recording Studio has released such hits as the Morgan Heritage single She's Still Loving Me and also recently released the Under Attack rhythm.
