Who is lying?
published: Friday | March 5, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

ARISTIDE SAYS the United States Government was behind his ouster, that he was kidnapped. Colin Powell, U.S. Secretary of State, says this statement is not true. One of them is lying. I do not care which one, but what about the children? I am a teacher.

I try to teach the truth, because the truth is what makes this world a place of value, a place worth living in and a life worth dying for. Don't tell me I have to understand and accept 'lying' in the adult world, yet must instruct children that 'lying' is wrong in their own world. Their world is my world. As an adult, though I am forced to live in a world of hypocrites, I will not be a teacher of hypocrisy.

I am, etc.,
