THE UNIVERSITY of the West Indies is pleased to announce the appointment of Timothy Miller as Estate Manager, Maintenance Services at the Mona campus, from August 1, 2003 to July 31, 2006 in the first instance.As estate manager, Mr. Miller is primarily responsible for the management of the university's estate at Mona, and all its other properties in Jamaica.
His responsibilities extend to the planning and construction of new buildings, alteration, extension and renovation of existing buildings, the maintenance of buildings, grounds and physical facilities, the preparation of facilities for ceremonial and other official university events on the campus and the provision of housing for staff.
PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER AND INTERNATIONAL CONSULTANT
Mr. Miller is a professional engineer and international consultant, with extensive professional, academic and administrative experience, UWI said in a release.
He has studied in Trinidad and the Ukraine, United States and Venezuela, and he has worked in the Cayman Islands, Jamaica and Canada, and academically he has lectured at Jamaica's University of Technology and the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.
His academic experience includes serving as Visiting Professor in the Engineering and Computing faculty at the University of Technology, Jamaica, involved in the development and presentation of lectures and the conduct of training courses in computer network engineering for Cable & Wireless engineers. He was also Lecturer/Research Engineer at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, USA.
Mr. Miller is a Commissioned Officer in the Jamaica Defence Force and is a member of the International Association of Electrical Engineers and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), the university release said.
