By Daraine Luton, Freelance WriterHARBOUR VIEW yesterday dispelled myths that suggested they are not fully motivated when they play against lowly-placed teams, by opening the floodgates on National Premier League cellar side Star Cosmos, in Federation Cup action at Harbour View compound.
Nicholas McCreath scored an hat-trick and Jomo Gordon hit a brace for Harbour View to win six-love.
They were among seven Premier League teams to enjoy victory in the first set of games in round three of the competition. The others were Waterhouse, Tivoli, Portmore, Invaders, Village and Rivoli.
Meanwhile, Arnett Gardens, Reno, Star Cosmos, Seba and Constant Spring are the big league clubs that tasted defeat.
Arnett fell 0-1 to Waterhouse for the second time in four days, through a powerful 21st minute header by Shane Edwards. Constant Spring lost 1-2 to Portmore and Seba lost 0-1 to Tivoli.
KSAFA Super League title gunners Santos, aided by a Richard West's brace, tamed Windsor Lions 3-1.
At Railway Oval, Andrew Chisholm netted in the 21st minute with a well directed header that beat the diving Alrick Henry to his left for the game's only goal.
Chisholm, who has been rubbing the bench for most of this season, was fed a pass of pin point accuracy by Fabian Davis, who carefully dressed the ball and sent a pass dead along the six yards line to which no Seba defender could respond.
The goal was a decent way for Tivoli to reply to Seba hitting their post 10 minutes earlier. Then, forward Wilfred Smith got a defence splitting pass from Jermaine Anderson and unleashed at goal, only to see the ball rebounding off Edsel Scott's right upright.
Meanwhile, Tivoli's strike pair of Chisholm and Lenworth Hyde Jr. were only successful in getting a few threatening shots at goal even though they got fairly good service from their support staff, especially Davis.
Not surprisingly, Glendon 'Admiral' Bailey, Tivoli's coach, again stated that he is concerned about his team not scoring goals.
"We are not scoring enough goals because we are not exercising enough patience in and around the 18-yard area."
Bailey added that although his team only holds a one-goal cushion going into the return leg they would be able to motivate themselves "knowing that it is not over by the shout."
Meanwhile, Seba's Tommy Taylor said: "We could have been 2-0 up before they scored a goal. It was easier to score than miss, we missed them both and we defended badly in out box (to cause the goal)."
Taylor, who said yesterday's encounter was a good game spoilt only by the wind, also told The Gleaner that he is not worried going into the return leg.
