Hard work pays off for Davis
published: Monday | March 8, 2004

NOT ONLY is he one of the best free kickers in the business, but the admirable work rate of Fabian Davis has put him in the top drawer among local footballers.

It was this same level of commitment that will to win that Davis demonstrated yesterday to help his side to a 1-0 win over Seba United in their JNBS/Federation Cup tie at Railway Oval yesterday.

Davis provided the cross that led to Andrew Chisholm scoring the lone goal in the game. He also made some brilliant forward passes, spoilt only by faulty shooting by Tivoli's strikers, and was the key man on the field yesterday.

"Fabulous", as he is called, said yesterday's game was of equal importance to him, as any other game that he plays.

MOTIVATION

"Each and every win means a lot to us. We use these games to motivate us towards the championships. What we are thinking about is taking each and every cup that is available to us and we are working towards it," Davis told The Gleaner.

Commenting on yesterday's performance, Davis said every time he graces the football field he tries to make that performance supersede the previous one.

"I have been very focused, I have been working hard, playing harder and harder everyday trying to help my team," he said.

Although his side only holds a slim advantage over Seba heading to Jarrett Park for the return leg tie, Davis said he and his teammates will be giving their best.

"This is our job and we will continue to treat it like that. Each and everyday we will come and give 110 percent and that is what have been giving us victory after victory. Seba is a very good touch team but we are prepared for everything that they have to offer and just keep on winning."
