By Barbara Ellington, Gleaner WriterWHAT DO you get when you take the best locally manufactured condiments, cosmetics and craft items; add some mento music, sumptuous nibbles and invite corporate Jamaica as your guests? A showcase of the the island's best offerings under the Bandanna Bounty label, the latest venture by Carla Seaga and her business partner.
Tourism Minister Aloun Assamba headed the list of local and overseas guests who attended a Managers' cocktail function at the Hilton Kingston Hotel earlier this month. Mrs. Seaga introduced Bandanna Bounty to representatives of corporate Jamaica and guests of the hotel.
Many of the items are not new - they have been produced right here in Jamaica for several years. However, for over two years, Mrs. Seaga, who previously marketed two other lines of craft items, has taken her idea a step further. With a growing demand for exquisite and attractively packaged Jamaican gift packages, the Bandana Bounty was born and the results were obviously well apreciated by those in attendance.
"I have always been very keen on highlighting the best of what we make, all of the items packaged by Bandanna Bounty, are carefully made by experts from every nook and cranny of Jamaica and since we have once again embarked on a Buy Jamaica campaign, I would like to do my part to help. By supporting locally manufactured products, we are providing employment for Jamaicans," Mrs. Seaga told The Gleaner.
AFFORDABLE
Bandanna Bounty's colourful 20-page catalogue showcases over 30 affordable choices in wholesale and retail prices. "If it's made in Jamaica and it's the best that there is, then we are sure to have it," is the company's asurance.
The name Bandanna Bounty has inspired the colourful open boxes in which the items are arranged. Customers can get custom designed packages but other indigenous material such as coconut shells and straw baskets are used. Each set is topped by the company's miniature straw hat signature.
The range of products include: coconut lotion, passion fruit bath and shower gel, hemp/Blue Mountain Coffee/coconut candles, Appleton Rum, Walker's Wood sweet and savoury condiments, pens, pencils, scarves, jerk seasonings, allspice soaps and lotions,, tropical body scrubs and much more. And for children, there is a box containing a children's story book, pencils and a reggae tiger.
