'Our Voices' continues
published: Friday | March 12, 2004

Alicia Roache , Staff Reporter

MANY QUESTIONED the future of the popular TV programme Our Voices following the recent departure of Lisa Hanna-Panton.

Lisa Hanna, former Miss World, along with her husband Dr. David Panton and their child moved to Atlanta, USA, recently to pursue other professional interests. However, with the move has come many questions regarding the television programme Our Voices, which she co-produced and co-hosted with former Dancehall Queen, Carlene Smith.

However, Carlene, in an interview with The Gleaner denied that the continuity of the show was in jeopardy because of Lisa's departure. "Lisa has not left Our Voices, she has left the island," she said. She further emphasised that the future of the programme is secure in its fourth season which began airing Monday, March 8, on CVM TV.

According to Carlene, Lisa came back to Jamaica last week to tape the episode which was aired on Monday. Our Voices will follow the same format, will air at the same time and in the same slot, says Carlene. The issues will remain current, as Lisa Hanna-Panton will continue to fly back and forth between the USA and Jamaica to tape the shows. Up to press time, she could not be contacted for a comment.

Our Voices is a weekly show which focuses on current topical issues relevant to women. It airs 13 episodes per season on CVM TV.

However, while the future of the show seems secure, there have been rumours of an impending lawsuit against the programme. However, Angella Thame, Managing Director of Creative House, producers of Our Voices, denies knowledge of any such lawsuit.
