THE EDITOR, Sir:
THE STATE Minister in the Ministry of Water, Harry Douglas, yesterday dashed all hope for a proper water supply for Mandeville. The statement made by the Minister that 'there are no plans for Mandeville' flies in the face of the spirit of the meetings held with the residents of Mandeville last year, when promises were made for a speedy resolution to the matter.
Are the residents of Mandeville and the surrounding areas to believe that all that meeting was about was a 'face card' to keep us quiet on the subject?
This unbelievable and arrogant approach to a town that is the fastest developing one in the island and which provides more revenue from the earnings of bauxite is totally unacceptable.
Mandeville's investment opportunities are being stifled because of the lack of water. Commercial opportunities are being lost and with it, job opportunities for the people of Manchester.
I am, etc.,

Deputy Mayor of Mandeville
