Misleading toll sign
published: Monday | March 22, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

BEING A frequent user of this facility and being more willing to pay the toll, I nevertheless have a criticism. There is a large sign just before you get to the toll plaza indicating the cost as defined in three categories: cars, trucks and trailers, with pictures of each showing what they look like. Cars $50, trucks $60 and trailers $120.

However, each time I pass in my small truck, I am charged $120 and the supervisor on duty advised me that anything longer than 18 inches attracts the trailer cost and he had brought it to the attention of the operators that the sign is misleading but nothing has been done about it.

Maybe, through this medium, somebody can set the record straight as I cannot see why a small single-axle truck can attract the same cost as an 18-wheeler.

I am, etc.,
