'CARICOM must now move on'
published: Wednesday | March 24, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

ARISTIDE MUST now resign himself to the fact that he will never return to power. As such, I believe that exile has to be the most pragmatic issue at this point in time where Aristide is concerned.

CARICOM must now realise that it cannot undo what has already been done and it must now make Aristide's exile its number one agenda item. As long as this issue is unresolved, the Bush administration's attitude towards us will be less than savoury. We have many other pressing issues to deal with in our region. The U.S. doesn't need CARICOM, we need them. To CARICOM I would say, bite our tongue and move on.

I am, etc.,
