Jamaica Gleaner Letters

Calling for review of justice system
THE EDITOR, Sir: A COMPREHENSIVE enquiry into or study or review of the administration of justice (in its widest sense) in Jamaica is required - as a matter of utmost urgency.

Small farmers need help
THE EDITOR, Sir: BACK IN the good old days it was with much enthusiasm that young men in rural Jamaica did small farming alongside their fathers.

We need an advancement of literacy
THE EDITOR, Sir: I AM using this medium to thank Louis Marriott and his team for reminding us of one section of our history. Congratulations to the cast, especially to the children who danced and sang their hearts out.

Stunned by Rich's article
THE EDITOR, Sir: 'IMPERTINENCE(!?)'. THAT word. I am still trying to recuperate after reading Dawn Ritch's article in your Sunday Gleaner, where she referred to the Prime Minister's 'impertinence' for questioning the United States' version of Aristide's.

Overtaxing visitors
THE EDITOR, Sir: I AM a Jamaican who happens to work in the airline industry; so, I'm able to frequent Ja on a regular basis. I'm disturbed about the escalating taxes one has to pay on leaving the island.

Hypocrisy over Leviticus
THE EDITOR, Sir: IT IS particularly annoying to have ministers quoting Leviticus as proof that God finds homosexuality an 'abomination' when they conveniently ignore other "teachings" of Leviticus.

Impressed with honesty of Jamaicans
THE EDITOR, Sir: I RECENTLY had the pleasure of visiting Ocho Rios while on the cruise ship Island Princess. Ocho Rios was the first stop on the cruise.
