By Devon Evans, Gleaner Writer

THE TEXAS, United States-based charity organisation Airline Ambassadors International has brought into the island a consignment of goods valued at over J$600,000 which it intends to distribute to a number of organisations and institutions.

According to Sharrye Moore, director of Airline Ambassadors International, the organisation has had an ongoing relationship with Jamaica for over five years and that each year it looks forward to improving that relationship by ensuring that help is provided for those in need.

DIFFERENCE IN JAMAICA

Ms. Moore, speaking at a welcome ceremony at Rio Bueno All-Age School in Trelawny last week, said that through the collaborative effort of Airline Ambassadors and its associates, the organisation hopes to make a difference in Jamaica.

Among the beneficiaries of the gifts are the Bustamante Hospital for Children, Mustard Seed Community and the Golden Age Home in Kingston, the Treasure Beach community and the Rio Bueno All-Age School in Trelawny.

SPECIAL PRAISE

Ms. Moore had special praise for SuperClubs Resorts for facilitating the group's humanitarian mission to both the Dominican Republic and Jamaica as well as American Airlines for transporting the goods free of cost.

The Rio Bueno All-Age School is to receive a quantity of books and school supplies. Senior teacher at the school Miss Shelia Callum was very pleased that her school was selected for the worthy offer. "We are located in a very poor community and any help we can get will be greatly appreciated", she said.
