Chaos in the society
published: Thursday | April 1, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

WHERE THERE is no justice, terror roams. Injustice and corruption are bedfellows. Politics mixed with corruption is like poison to the human society. It cripples the integrity of men in high places. Just as corruption biologically destroys the human body, so corruption physically and spiritually infiltrates man's conscience and gradually becomes a cancer to his morals. Thus it spreads and no shame is left, the human soul becomes desperate; then chaos reigns in the society as in the world in general and my country Jamaica in particular.

CONSCIENCE

My conscience is my judge and jury. In general and as a whole, a country's conscience is its justice system and not seen as done but must be done. The pillars of a country's justice system are the police, judge and jury. These men and women will have to let their conscience rule and without fear, prejudice or favour.

Equal justice must be meted out to the street cleaner, as would to the Prime Minister, etc., or terror will continue to roam. If no money is in the State's purse to pay the street cleaner then there must be none to pay the Prime Minister. Both are human beings and should be treated with due respect.

I am, etc.,
