Irreverence at Easter
published: Thursday | April 8, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

It is with great distress that I have observed the growing trend to blatantly disregard the reverence, which should be attributed to Holy Days.

Last Christmas there was a proliferation of dances, car stereo competitions and beach bashes held on Christmas Day, which traditionally is one of the holiest and most family-focussed days of the year.

The same thing is happening with Good Friday and other such days. The abundance of noisy, secular events is outrageous, to say the least, and just one more reflection of the decadence in which this society currently finds itself.

There should be a law against these events on significant holy days. Is nothing sacred anymore?

I am, etc.,

KAREN HENRY
