Too many people, too little jobs

THE EDITOR, Sir:
In travelling in the major towns and districts, I witness hundreds of young people in their mid- to late teens doing absolutely nothing.
This problem is not only endemic to Jamaica, it's an international one. In that respect, nobody, no other nation can help us again by absorbing our excess people/labour force, therefore, it is incumbent on us Jamaicans to try and help those young people.
The government's role is to see that peace and harmony prevail within our nation and I honestly believe if crime, violence and fear are removed from the society there are thousands of Jamaicans, who are millionaires in the US, Canada, Britain and elsewhere who are proud and patriotic. These individuals will gladly return home to invest and help the nation prosper and be respected as a shining Afro-Caribbean nation to the world. If something is not done, and done soon, I dread the consequences for our beloved country.
I am, etc.,
