Uplifting documentary

THE EDITOR, Sir:
I HAVE just returned from seeing a wonderful film called 'Change from Within' directed by a Canadian, Peter Farbridge, being shown at the Reel World Film Festival in Toronto. The film is an incredibly uplifting documentary about the St. Peter Claver Primary School in Waltham Park and illustrates how the desire of one person, principal Margaret Bolt, has changed not only the school but the students themselves. It serves to remind us of many things.
That people should not be satisfied and content with the walls that society puts them behind, and that anything is possible with hard work, determination and commitment.
Margaret Bolt provided these children with guidance that was often missing from the home, a home that these children never dared to think of having and love that some had never experienced in their young lives. If there were more of us like Margaret Bolt, Jamaica would be a different place today. She has influenced not only the children, but indirectly the parents, to live to higher standards and to not just sit back and accept the hand that life has dealt them.
I hope that this film will come to Jamaica for all to see and to inspire all who do see it to become better role models to our children.
I am, etc.,
