Sex on the buses
published: Friday | April 16, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE RECENT stories of children who are having sex in buses and public places speak volumes about how depraved our nation has become. Where are the parents and responsible adults in these children's lives.

When I was growing up, I was not a model child, but I knew that I should not engage in certain acts and the healthy fear of my parents and godly fear stopped me from doing many evils. I am glad for parents who instilled healthy shame in me. Shame is still a good thing. Apparently these youngsters have no shame or self respect.

I will continue to pray for the parents and these youngsters because I know that what these youngsters want is love and significance in their lives. This can only be found in Jesus and godly human beings who will guide them to a productive future. I hope that the great Christians of Jamaica will see this depraved behaviour as fertile ground to plant God's love. Jesus loves these young people. Jamaica needs a revival of family values and trust in Jesus.

Where are the fathers of these youngsters who can instil self respect in them? It is time for the Jamaican man to rise up and be responsible fathers.

I am, etc.,
