JAMAICA'S REGGAE Boyz will have a busy preparation programme ahead of their CONCACAF World Cup qualifying assignments against Haiti in June.
In the next eight weeks, Jamaica will have three friendly internationals and a couple of camps as they build up to face the talented Haitians in Florida on June 12 and at home in Kingston on June 19.
After recent friendlies against Uruguay and Honduras, the Jamaicans will play Venezuela on April 28 and tackle Nigeria and the Republic of Ireland during a late May camp in England.
"It is good the games that we have been getting," coach Carl Brown told CMC Sport yesterday.
"I believe these games are good. We just hope that we don't come out of these games with any serious injury that will hamper our progress.
"But this is the sort of preparation that we are looking forward to because we expect very tough games from the Haitians," Brown added.
CAMP
With a high percentage of their players based overseas on professional contracts, Brown sees as vital, scheduled camps in England from May 23 to June 3, and a one-week stay in Florida from June 7, leading up to their game against Haiti at the Orange Bowl.
"That's a very important area, once the camp materialises and we get to England, it will be the first time that the players will be spending this period of time together and that is always going to be critical, time spent is always going to be critical in preparation for games like the World Cup qualifiers," Brown said.
Jamaica drew a bye in the first stage of CONCACAF qualifiers, while Haiti shut out the Turks & Caicos Islands 7-0 on aggregate.
In France 1998, Jamaica created history when they became the first English-speaking Caribbean team to appear in the World Cup Finals.
Four years later, they were unable to repeat the feat, missing a top three spot in the CONCACAF Finals, in which they finished fourth behind Costa Rica, Mexico, and the United States.
