LeVaughn Flynn, Staff ReporterWATERHOUSE INCURRED their third fine of the season following an incident on Wednesday at the Drewsland Mini Stadium, during which Rivoli's coach Bradley Stewart alleged that he was intimidated at halftime in his locker room by Waterhouse supporters.
The Jamaica Football Federation's (JFF's) Competitions Committee and members from the Waterhouse and Rivoli football clubs were locked in a meeting yesterday where the verdict was handed out.
Waterhouse was fined the maximum fee of $100,000 after breaching the disciplinary act for the third time this season. They were previously charged for incidents with Constant Spring and Arnett Gardens.
The Gleaner spoke with chairman of the Competitions Committee Raymond Anderson who said that despite Stewart's claim were not proven to be doubt free, "something happened" that shouldn't have.
"It is Waterhouse's ground and they are responsible for the security, fans and visiting team," Anderson said.
"They (Waterhouse) were charged the minimum fee of $50,000 for the two previous offences so we can't fine them the minimum on the third occasion; they have to be fined the maximum." he added.
To add salt to their wound, Waterhouse's executive Donovan White, along with Stewart, were summoned to the JFF's Disciplinary Committee for "utterances to the media deemed detrimental to the game" according to a release from the JFF's office.
"It is stated clearly in our rules that you don't try cases in the media. We have a forum that everyone is aware of and they should use the proper channels." Anderson declared.
No information was forthcoming from Waterhouse as White said the club's executives have not met sicne the meeting. "At this time we prefer not to comment on the matter and will reserve all comments until we've met as an executive tomorrow," White stated.
In another incident stemming from Wednesday's controversial day in the National Premier League, Harbour View were awrded three points and three goal margin for their game against Star Cosmos. Star Cosmos knowingly used ineligible players in their game who should have been out on cards. According to Star Cosmos manager Everton Rose, the club is strapped for cash and was unable to pay the fines which The Gleaner understands have amounted to more than $20,000.
Anderson, who is also president of the St. Mary Football Association, said that the FA decided to intervene and help the club with its debt.
"We looked at the matter in depth and we've brought the St. Mary FA in the picture. We've made commitments to pay for those cards to make sure the players become legal." he said.
