Jamaica Gleaner Letters
published: Thursday | April 22, 2004

Bankrupt nation
THE EDITOR, Sir: UNLIKE THE election campaigns they ran, where they positioned themselves as the common man, walking the walk and talking the talk, Dr. Davies and company have seemingly made a strategic move to 'talk over the heads' of these same people.

Cutting losses
THE EDITOR, Sir: MR. TONY Laing, the host of Laing & company a popular radio programme on Power 106, declares ad nauseam that we are all shareholders and directors of Jamaica.

To serve and protect self
THE EDITOR, Sir: MAYBE I am the only fool in the Jamaican population because I just cannot understand the Police in Jamaica. At times, they can be so professional and at other times cast a doubt on their whole organisation.

Why children treat sex so casually
THE EDITOR, Sir: THE RECENT outpourings of shock and horror by many well known Jamaicans over the issue of sexual activities on buses by school children, is in my estimation a clear example of "locking the gate, after the horse has gone through".

The right to represent
THE EDITOR, Sir: I WRITE regarding Devon Dick's commentary on overseas Reggae Boyz...

Going home
THE EDITOR, Sir: ON SATURDAY April 17, 2004 the Governor-General of Jamaica, Sir Howard Cooke, spoke at the Mico Alumni Chapter of South Florida. His Excellency moved the audience with a most inspirational speech.

Respect the law
THE EDITOR, Sir: I WISH to respond to Mr. Michael Lorne's letter: 'A moot point on ganja possession', published in The Gleaner on Friday, April 16, 2004.

Only love for 'One Love'
THE EDITOR, Sir: KINDLY ALLOW me to use this medium to give my views on the movie One Love.

What's the plan?
THE EDITOR, Sir: I AM very relieved that the Minister of Finance's Budget presentation revealed no additional taxation and I am very happy to note how proud he is of the state of the Jamaican economy today!...

Old friends
THE EDITOR, Sir: I ATTENDED Merl Grove High School and would like to get in contact with friends.
