Only love for 'One Love'

THE EDITOR, Sir:

KINDLY ALLOW me to use this medium to give my views on the movie One Love.

Firstly, I must congratulate Mr. Trevor Rhone for writing a script that was not based on gang violence and living in less than desirable conditions in communities termed as 'inner city' communities. Instead, the movie was set in rural Jamaica, and had breathtaking shots of the natural beauty of our lovely island.

I must point out that I am not an avid movie-goer, however, in the case of One Love, the movie was entertaining from start to finish, as it captured so many different aspects of our Jamaican culture and of course, it did not fail to elicit laughter from the audience.

In addition, the choice of using Cherine Anderson as one of the lead actors, is excellent. Even though it was a low-budget film, it is truly refreshing to see that a young Jamaican actress was used to play the part, as it is talent like hers that needs to be developed, and this can only be done if she is given roles that will give her exposure and a chance to make a name for herself.
