THE EDITOR, Sir:LET ME take the time to pay homage to all the teachers in our Jamaican classrooms, who see it not as a job to earn a living only, but as a genuine desire to see our youths achieve and grow positively.
That part comes from the heart and as such these teachers shine through at a different level.
I wish to speak of one in particular, that would move heaven and earth to see her students achieve the highest, and is concerned with the total person, her name is Carlene Peters, and she currently teaches at Ascot High School in Greater Portmore.
Along with other faithful stalwarts that have been at the school from its inception, they have soldiered on. Even when it would seem the least accomplished and seemingly troubled youths are sent to non-traditional schools, this woman along with the staff are turning this pattern around, and all praises to them.
I expect that very soon the name of Ascot High will be towering in academics as well as sports. The spiritual side of Mrs. Peters also lends support to the students she teaches.
To the Principal, the teaching staff, administrative and ancillary staff, keep that flag of Ascot flying and to all schools labelled NON-TRADITIONAL HIGH, let's take the top places in the near future.
I am etc,
CLIVE PETERS
