'Forbes seeking excuses'
published: Saturday | April 24, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I WOULD like to join those calling for Commissioner Forbes' removal.

In your issue dated 04/21/2004 the following was printed: "The Commissioner said Adams' comments had brought the more than 100-year-old Jamaica Constabulary Force to a 'new low'."

I would like to know if Forbes and his ranking colleagues believe that they are above being evaluated; also I would like to know how low in Forbes' opinion does the following printed in The Gleaner, Thursday, April 22, 2004 brings the JCF:

"Four men, including a sub-officer of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), were detained yesterday by the narcotics police in what is said to be a joint international drug operation conducted in the parishes of St. Ann and St. James."

Mr. Forbes one of the detainees is a newly-promoted policeman. How do you feel?

I went back in the archives and re-read dozens of articles that have already brought the JCF to an unreachable depth. Forbes is not dealing with reality. He is seeking excuses for his ineptness as Mr. Forbes Be REAL or LEAVE.

I am, etc.,

VINCENT WHITE
