Tivoli A, Jamalco renew rivalry
published: Saturday | April 24, 2004

THE LEILA Robinson Courts today will bear witness to a clash of the Berger Super Netball League giants Tivoli A and Jamalco in a mid-season final that threatens to recreate the drama of the teams' recently concluded Open League semi-final confrontation.

Starting at 5:45 p.m., Tivoli will be attempting to peg back the unbridled run of a Jamalco team which has brushed aside all in its wake, scoring more than 60 goals over five teams from eight starts. The Tivoli team has been a little less dominant, not winning by margins as wide and even drawing one game.

Tivoli coach Sylvester Campbell, however, is not perturbed by the apparent form of the Jamalco team.

"Jamalco can't take heart in the fact that they have been winning because they have only played weak teams and so they don't really have any psychological advantage over Tivoli," he said.

There might be some truth to Campbell's statements with the exception that both coaches, Tivoli's Campbell and Jamalco's Winston Nevers agree that the latter is an improved team to the one that suffered an Open semi-final defeat.

"My team will be coming to play because they beat us in the Open League and we want revenge," said Nevers.
