"IT'S THE first in a long time I have seen such a great interest in a black male model from major fashion players," says a proud Deiwight Peters, CEO, Saint International) of one of his latest stars-Colet (pronounced Colay) Buckley.
Peters said that Georgio Armani personally handpicked him to walk the runway at the Autumn/Winter collections in Milan during January, 2004. Shortly after, Armani again booked Buckley as the showroom model for his ultra-exclusive, high-spending clientele.
Three weeks later, Armani again pinpointed Buckley for his shows in Germany. These consistent Armani bookings sent a signal to the fashion world that a new male star was born. Buckley was first option for the recent Bennetton Campaign and has been shot for major editorials including 1-2-5 magazine. When Mr. Peters visited New York earlier this year, he said there was fierce bidding from a number of top agencies for Buckley who was eventually signed to Major Models in New York.
His highly respected agent, Jason Kanner of Major Models New York, stated, "Colet's look and body (Colet wears a 40 regular jacket) will make him a definite star. I am sure he will be a favourite for Ralph Lauren, Armani and many others. I am sure he will be going to the top of the game."
A stunning debut in a 12-page editorial shot by iconic lens-woman Ellen Von Unwerth for L'Uomo Vogue, set the young model on the path to his career. An Adidas campaign in the bag, and other high-profile bookings confirmed, there is no turning back for Buckley. Buckley is represented by Premier Models in London, Major Milan and New York. He was discovered by Dewight Peters during the CVM TV Faces of Summer Model Search. He was one of the Saint International stars that will be gracing the stage for Style Week Jamaica from May 23-30 in Kingston.
