THE EDITOR, Sir:
MICHAEL LEE-CHIN'S numerous philanthropic endeavours to date must be highly commended and exemplified to whatever degree one can afford to follow suit. Here is a wealthy individual who has sought to better his community, and by extension, his country, through well placed financial donations and the establishment of worthwhile social entities.
At a time in our history when Government resources are strained, it is indeed a blessing each time an individual opts to use his/her wealth to proactively engage in worthwhile and meaningful efforts to improve and empower his community. Jamaica faces many social and economic challenges at this time and those who voluntarily step in to cushion some of the negative repercussions must be highly commended and encouraged by all who envision a better Jamaica.
In an age where the reporting of bad news traditionally takes precedence over the reporting of good news, I must use this opportunity to commend The Gleaner for highlighting Lee-Chin's contribution to the Economic Development Foundation, on its front page on Saturday.
Michael Lee-Chin is not only an impressive businessman but, from a socially conscious and visionary perspective, he is an impressive human being!
