'The misinformed'
published: Wednesday | April 28, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

PASTOR SHAUN Brooks of the Woodburne District of SDA Churches, St. Thomas, had his Gleaner letter concerning the controversial film, The Passion of The Christ, published April 25, 2004. The Pastor falls in a group of persons in our society who seek to comment on matters that they are either not informed about or do not seek to become informed about.

The Pastor admits that he has been presented with numerous opportunities to watch the film but has turned down such. Pastor Brooks gives the impression as if he has never sat down and watched a movie coming out of the 'corrupted' Hollywood in the confines of his home. Or is it okay to watch the movie in your home but not at the cinema?

The Pastor seems to be more concerned about how much money Hollywood is making rather than how persons can benefit from the film. I, being a Christian also, would like to remind the dear Pastor that God uses even the pagan to accomplish his purpose including Cyrus who freed the Jewish captives in Babylon and allowed them to return to Jerusalem. In the same way, God can use this film to expose those unsaved who would never before want to hear anything of Jesus and it could also strengthen the resolve of the Christian to hold firm to Christ.

I am, etc.,
